The Weight of Light - An International Anthology of Contemporary Encaustic Art provides a curated collection of works and narratives unified by a central theme. Every inclusion has been hand-selected by juror, Janise Yntema, a professional artist working in wax media.
The Weight of Light theme explores how hot and cold wax art convey illumination, translucency, and shadow to communicate stories of hope, struggle, resilience, and revelation. Wax’s unique capacity to hold and transmit light allows artists to speak quietly and powerfully at the same time—to suggest what is hidden, what is emerging, and what endures.
