The word “anthology” comes from the Greek word 'anthologia,' which means “flower gathering.” The root translation beautifully encompasses what an anthology does - it gathers art that highlights individual creativity while also showcasing how each element relates to others.

International Encaustic Artists’ inaugural publication of The Weight of Light - Wax Fusion Anthology, Volume I provides a curated collection of works and narratives unified by a central theme. Every inclusion has been hand-selected by our juror, Janise Yntema, a professional artist working in wax media.

The Weight of Light theme explores how hot and cold wax art convey illumination, translucency, and shadow to communicate stories of hope, struggle, resilience, and revelation. Wax’s unique capacity to hold and transmit light allows artists to speak quietly and powerfully at the same time—to suggest what is hidden, what is emerging, and what endures.

We hope that you share our excitement in the publication of The Weight of Light Anthology. It is more than an exhibition; it is an international, permanent, and collectible reference documenting the diverse achievements within the hot and cold wax genre.
